A 41-YEAR-old man stabbed and bashed at North Geelong last weekend is facing assault charges over a previous alleged incident.
Jason Trickey, recovering in Geelong Hospital from the brutal attack, is listed for a contest mention in Geelong Magistrates’ Court on 18 February.
A court spokesman told the Independent the charges related to assault.
The matter was adjourned after a previous mention mid-January, the spokesman said.
Mr Trickey this week posted on Facebook photographs from his hospital bed, wearing a neckbrace and saying “Gotta learn to walk before you run … ”.
He did not respond to phone messages from the Independent.
The Independent believes police are investigating an 18-year-old Geelong man’s Facebook posting of threats against Mr Trickey and bragging about assaulting him.
Mr Trickey also posted Facebook images of facial bruises sustained late last year after an undisclosed incident.
In the latest incident, six or seven youths reportedly assaulted him after breaking into his Thompson Rd home.
Various accounts suggested he was stabbed, bashed and struck with bricks.
Mr Trickey was also attacked three years following an incident at Corio. He later criticised police for insufficient resources.
Mr Trickey, who describes himself as a “social media guru and IT consultant”, runs a Geelong Facebook community page, focusing on historical images of the region.

Interesting that the 2 comments defaming this person are not brave enough to leave their real names. No one can take you or your comment seriously I don’t know the individual above but his name is plastered all over the article, be brave enough to drop yours in. Doug

      Dear Doug,
I appreciate my privacy, I do not plaster myself across social media nor do I wish to have any such attention.
I was extremely reserved in my comment in relation to the individual who the newspaper named and who has himself personally continued to make his personal affairs public information.
Is it deformation when the information is I fact true and accurate? I believe if someone conducts themselves in a manner which is unsavory and this has been found to be true before the courts it is fair to state such facts.
Is it not fair for this individual to be held accountable as is being expected of those who allegedly assaulted him? Or should people’s perception be blurred by half truths and misinformation to only include facts of a favorable nature?
